She said she was not from India; her home was in Naogaon. She could also tell her father’s name and address. Her father was called. Everyone present became emotional at the tears of the father and daughter. She was then released yesterday, Wednesday afternoon.

Her husband had taken away her child and divorced her. She lost her mental balance due to the grief of losing her child. She was then found in the Indian border area. BGB members detained her on suspicion of infiltration. She could not say anything when asked about her identity. The BGB handed her over to the police. She did not answer any questions from the police either. The father’s name, mother’s name and address – everything was written as ‘unknown’.
A month and a half ago, she was sent to Rajshahi Central Jail on suspicion of being an Indian citizen in an infiltration case. With the efforts of the prison authorities, she started talking. She said, she is not in India; her home is in Naogaon. She can also tell her father’s name and address. Her father was called. Everyone present became emotional at the tears of the father and daughter. Then she was released yesterday, Wednesday afternoon.
Asha Banu said that she worked in a garment factory in Dhaka with her husband. They have a 10-year-old son. Her husband divorced her in 2022 after taking away her son and threw her out of the house. She lost her mother in childhood.
The girl’s name is Asha Banu (23). Her father’s name is Mir Mostafizur Rahman, mother is Farida Begum. Her home is in Hakimpur village of Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon. She was found on the banks of the Padma River on the Godagari-Gahomabona border in Rajshahi at around 7:45 pm on May 16.
After receiving no answers from Asha Banu, the police assumed that she was an Indian citizen. She had illegally crossed the border into Bangladesh. She was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital to check whether she was mentally unstable based on her behavior. The doctor there wrote an ‘apparently healthy physique’ in the prescription (there is no apparent health problem).
After receiving the doctor’s prescription, the police told the court that it was absolutely necessary to keep Asha Banu in jail on suspicion of being an Indian spy. Through the court, she was sent to Rajshahi Central Jail on May 17 in a case filed by Damkura Police Station in Rajshahi Nagar.
